The Magical World of Libraries

As a writer and booklover, it would seem obvious that libraries are one of my favourite places to visit.
There’s a few main reasons:

• Librarians love helping you find the books or information you need. I’ve even found this when I’ve emailed libraries I can’t physically visit.
• It’s free to borrow books!
• They usually have quiet spots and there’s desks where you can work away.
• You’re surrounded by books. Heaven!
• Amazing archive sections filled with historical information and now a lot of it is digitised so you can access it online.
• Often there’s interesting exhibitions, workshops/lectures, or films/plays for you to attend and they’re usually free.
• Most libraries have a bright and colourful children’s section full of resources just for you. There’s even storytelling, clubs for reading, study or other interests and great holiday programs.

At the end of last year I went to these three fantastic libraries and loved checking them out.
State Library of South Australia
I thoroughly enjoyed my time writing in the Mortlock Wing. It felt like a scene out of Harry Potter! Look at all the beautiful old books I was surrounded by!

City Library (SA)
 A contemporary library hidden down an alley off the Rundle Mall.

State Library Victoria
Check out the stunning La Trobe Reading Room and dome above it. I enjoyed the exhibition on the World of Books.
