This is my entry into Vivian Kirkfield's #50 Precious Words writing contest. Bert dreamed of flying like the ibises over the lake. He studied their white wings extended to their black tips. Now 20, Bert lay on an ironing board – his glider’s cockpit. He stared at the wings he’d built and prayed he’d chosen the right bird to teach him to fly.
